Hearing a grinding noise while driving. They replaced a solenoid? Two months have passed - noise is back again. Back to the same dealership.
When I drive slowly and switch into 4-wheel drive, I hear the same grinding noise! Getting frustrated. They did also determine that the rotors on the breaks are warped - would that be causing the noise? I do feel a vibration when braking. Noise is really noticeable around 20 mph and 10 mph - when not stepping on the brakes. Here is a tech bulletin for the noise and a fix.

Well I guess I shoulda took action sooner I was driving to work this morning and it was icy out so I was driving in 4x4. After about 25 miles of travel a loud thunk and grind came from the front end. When I got pulled over there was smoke coming from the left front wheel well. I took it outta four and the grinding kinda went away but you can still hear it. Often, the electric fuel pump can be heard while parked with the engine running. Look at the backing plates of the rear wheels for a coating of gear oil. Those axle bearings aren't the best. I have a growling vibration noise in the location of driver's side wheel area.

The speakers with my sync stereo system sound terrible. They sound fuzzy and vibrating like they are blown but I know they're not because it does it at different times for different speakers throughout the truck. When I start the truck for the first time it makes a metallic sound that lasts for a couple of seconds. Make sure your truck gets an engine cleaning, it's a liquid they put in the oil before changing it. Then add your 5 20 semi-synthetic and done.

At 20 mph it grinds around seconds intervals and speeds up when I go faster. You know, it can only be so many things, just take it into a garage to be looked at or get under there and check it out. OJ answered 3 years ago. Could the rotors on the front be warped? Pickups are good for warped rotors if lugs are tightened in excess of specs.
At highway speed, if you apply the brakes you can usually feel the pulsation of a warped rotor. What a shop would do is place the vehicle on a lift, let the engine run in 2WD drive and 4 WD and see if they can locate the problem with the wheels turning off the ground. They could probably locate the problem at idle with no weight on the suspension if drive line related.
