Tired of endlessly roaming through planetary rings in the hopes of finding the fabled fissure asteroids? Hopefully, this visual guide will help you reduce the time spent looking for fissure asteroids in planetary rings by a fair amount. My first mining foray in 3. Some commanders might take a look at commodity prices and conclude that metals sell for higher prices than the typical minerals found in icy rings… therefore, metallic rings must be more profitable. With the introduction of the new mining mechanics in 3.
Thanks to these hotspots, metallic rings offer access to both metals and expensive minerals alike. The problem is that the price of metals, although higher than most common minerals, is still rather low.
A single icy asteroid loaded with low temperature diamonds is worth several times more than a bunch of metallic asteroids put together. Low temperature diamond asteroids seem to be more common, in my experience, which makes icy rings a better choice unless you know of places that are bursting with painite asteroids, ofc.
Anyway, the white color of icy asteroids also helps, since it makes fissure asteroids easier to identify. Introduce the name of the system you plan to mine in and run the search. Any 3. When you finally drop in the hotspot, deploy your hardpoints, select your Pulse Wave Analyser and let the hunt begin! This type of asteroids is the most common of the three. Asteroids of this kind are characterized by a comparatively dim or non-existant glow.
This is the most annoying kind of asteroids. They can either have a very intense reddish glow or a very intense yellow-orange glow with some reddish tones, perhaps. Important Note: The smallest asteroids may display fissure-like glow without actually having fissures. As a rule of thumb, ignore tiny asteroids unless you want to check them for low temperature diamonds, ofc! Keep in mind that sorting asteroid signals from a distance is only half of the equation.
The other half is knowing how to spot fissures without the need to waste a limpet potentially. In order to spot asteroid fissures more easily from up close, you can try enabling night vision. Here are a couple more fissure pics night vision only :. Then select your Seismic Charge Launcher. Those HUD markers indicate the explosive yield of your seismic charges. In order to increase their explosive yield, you need to hold down the fire button until the indicator reaches the desired yield level, then release.
The overall asteroid detonation yield will be displayed on the upper right corner. However, all your efforts will have been for nothing if you end up selling your valuable cargo cheap!
Always sell to stations that desperately need the resources you carry. Very good guide, but you got one thing wrong. Fissure strength does not have to be identical to the charge strength. Low defense fissures are good to start with, put two high damage explosives in them, then use the medium and high def fissures to do the fine-tuning with medium and weak charges.
The ones you want are the yellow glowing ones, and you know the yellow because it is so strong that i looks painted, almost! Furthermore you can spot them easily from a far distance…. If there is no fissure, move on.What's new New posts Latest activity. Log in Register. Search titles only. Word Count:. Search Advanced search…. New posts. Search forums.
The main requirement is that should be able to defend itself as automatically as possible, so I'm thinking gimballed weapons for some of the hard points. I've got the core internals A-rated, so it's just the optionals, hard points and util mounts that I need suggestions for.
Sorry if this has been asked many times before, but I couldn't find an obviously appropriate thread. You'll need to have:- Mining laser use the fixed ones, gimballed don't work unless you select forward fire only at least one level 2, or 2 level 1. You'll need to find the best rings to mine. If you're going to mine in a resource area, then you'll have constant interruptions from npcs wanting your cargo. With the cargo scoop down, the Conda is pretty unmanoeuverable, so you'll find turrets are better than gimballed weapons.
Try mining elsewhere!
I've found that there you get an initial scan, if you only carry limpets, the npc goes away and you can mine in peace.
If you're doing this, then don't logout, the next login will trigger the npc scan, and now you have all that expensive metal If you have space, you could add a fighter bay, but I'd ratgerhave the cargo space.

Care to share your "budget" builds? Think I need a baseline to where Im going wrong with my builds, especially my hardpoint choice, I don't really know where to start with hardpoints, and what is the most effective for damage and heat and power. I reckon the big ships need two stage weapon arrays i. MK Regular. Most of the engineering is optional, although I would recommend getting a few of the key upgrades FSD, Shield, Distributor, Thrusters and Power Plant as they massively increase the performance and survivability of the build.
It can hold off the lower ranked NPCs that will spawn and try to steal your stuff, but don't expect it to survive in a Haz Res. You can use this build to mine painite it is set up to do both laser and core miningwhich can easily make you just under M CR in 2 hours or less if you can find a good place to mine and a good place to sell.
The money you make can be used to go about rebuilding your Anaconda for actual combat without having any worries about budget constraints. Grant 's forces had surrounded Robert E. Lee 's forces "like an anaconda ". From this beginning he developed the Anaconda Copper Mining Company, a global mining enterprise featuring the Anaconda and other Butte mines, a smelter at Anaconda, Montanaprocessing plants in Great Falls, Montanathe American Brass Company, and many other properties, mostly in the United States, with the largest copper mine in the world in Chile and another in Mexico.
The Anaconda mine was closed in after producing 94, tons of copper. Its location has been consumed by the Berkeley Pita vast open-pit mine that used a different technology to adapt to changing grades of copper ore.
Augustus Heinze used the apex theory in several lawsuits to lay claim to ore from the Anaconda Mines. Heinze purchased a small parcel of unclaimed land on top of Butte Hill. In actions upheld by several Butte judges, he was able to take copper ore that was in the Anaconda company's shafts. After years of losing lawsuits to Heinze, the company shut down all operations in the state. Eventually the company bought out all of Heinze's properties and claims. My vette is a little more nimble than my conda, and once I finish engineering it the way I am wanting I plan on heading to HiRes sites with her, mainly to mine but also to do a little bounty hunting.
